When the late Dr. HM Patel, or HM as he was fondly called, embarked on building an institution which he envisioned would fill the need long-felt, that for a faculty of Medicine, not many thought he would succeed. But determined he was to succeed and went about his task with the same missionary zeal and enthusiasm that characterized much of his work in building Vallabh Vidyanagar. The result: an institution that has now grown to include a Medical Council of India recognized medical college, a 550-bed hospital, an institute of post-graduate studies, a school of nursing, a college of physiotherapy, a college for medical laboratory technology and  a cancer centre and a cardiac centre spread over a lush green, 100 acres campus which is located at Karamsad, adjacent to the University township of Vallabh Vidya Nagar and 7 kilometers away from Anand. It is about 80 kilometers  from Ahmedabad and about 40 kilometers  from Baroda. Solace for the Suffering, said our founder Chairman, the late Dr. HM Patel, and this vision became the beacon that has led the Charutar Arogya Mandal, the trust that manages the various institutions under the HM Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education (HMPCMCE),  to become one of the leading health care providers to the community in Anand and Kheda districts. 

Over the years, the hospital has evolved into perhaps one of the very few superspeciality hospitals in a rural area.  The hospital caters largely to the population of Anand and Kheda districts. Apart from its trauma care centre, the hospital has 4 ICUs (Surgical, Medical, Paediatric and Neonatal), a full-fledged labour room and various operation theatres. Patients of cancer are treated at the Cancer Centre of the institution. A separate block for   Cardiology has been commissioned recently.

The educational institutions under the HMPCMCE strive to give to their students the an education of the highest standards not just in terms of scientific knowledge but also in a manner that  only re-emphasizes and ensures that the students leave the campus with their hearts in the community.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Set up by the late Dr. H.M. Patel, the Charotar Arogya Mandal seeks to provide the best medical care and facilities for medical education to the people of Charutar. Founded in 1972, the Mandal has created the HM Patel Centre for Medical Care and Education at its 100-acre campus in Karamsad.
