Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are available for all the courses that are offered. The hostels, located within the campus, are administered by Wardens and have round-the clock security. Shared accommodation at the hostels, is provided to Resident doctors, whose services are required for hospital services, on first-come-first-served basis and at the discretion of the management. Rules governing ‘allotment of accommodation’ are followed in case of those provided accommodation at the hostels. The hostels for MBBS and PG students and the School of Physiotherapy are equipped with internet and intranet connectivity. This is in order to ensure that students may have ready access to educational material. The intranet facility enables students to log in and access lectures that have been taken and gather any other information that may be posted at the website.
Food
Apart from a mess at the hostel there are three other joints that offer a variety of food to the students. The Krishna Kaveri Restaurant which offers breakfast to dinner with tastes which suit the Indian palate. If one wants to enjoy snacks and ice-cream, in sunshine with lush green lawns around, there is the Mother Dairy parlour which is open till midnight. For those who like to watch their weight and figures there is the cafeteria at the Students’ Activity Centre which offers fat-free fare and high protein shakes etc.
Library
The College has excellent Central Library facilities. The Library subscribes to most of the national and international journals required for under-graduate and post-graduate students and faculty, as per the norms of the Medical Council of India. In addition to the Central Library, each department has its own Departmental Library. The Central Library is equipped with all the modern facilities viz: Internet, CD-ROMs, computers, audio-visual aids and photocopying. The library is also subscribing to Electronic Journal package for over 1000 450 journals.
Multiple copies of all standard text books are available for students who want to have them issued.
The reading room of the Library is open 24 hours during week days and 7.00 am to 5.00 p.m. on all Sundays and public holidays.
The library has also subscribed to MD-consult and EBSCO host - two data bases which permit online access to full texts of articles in a number of journals. The faculty has been provided with passwords to access the databases.
Student Counseling
Regular counseling sessions are arranged for students, by the Students’ Welfare Centre at the college. Senior faculty look after this activity under the direct supervision of the Dean of the college. Every attempt is made to see that students feel fully secure and comfortable. Parents are also encouraged to interact with the Students Welfare Center regularly to ensure the well being of their wards.
Sports & Recreation – The Students’ Activity Centre
– Book club, Music club, Dance club, Movie club
Facilities for indoor and outdoor games, like football, cricket, badminton, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, carom and chess, are available. A well-equipped gymnasium and facilities for other indoor sports are also available on the campus.
