Savitaben and Hirubhai Patel Student Activity Centre

A unique endeavour of its kind by the Charutar Arogya Mandal in creating a socially productive and professionally conducive environment for its students and staff.
The centre houses an Olympic standard Badminton hall with two wooden and one concrete courts and a spacious Table Tennis hall with three tables, a carrom and chess room and above all, a complete set of state of the art gymnasia. The gymnasia include a cardio hall equipped with world class treadmills and elliptical trainers of Korean make, a resistance training hall equipped with free weights, Reebok stability and medicine balls and wide range of hydraulic machines of international standard from Nautilus Nitro Plus range from USA for body conditioning. There is a hall for yoga, aerobics and dance which is fitted with life size mirrors.

The centre is manned by qualified staff, which includes trainers and nutritionists, who give personalized exercise prescription to suit individual needs of the members of the centre. The students, the staff and their immediate relatives are eligible for membership. However, centre does enroll individuals not directly related to any of the institutions of HMPCMCE on recommendation from in-house members. The centre is managed by our one of our own faculty members from the department of Community Medicine who is also a Reebok Certified Fitness Instructor.

Another attraction at the centre is the Diet Café that serves healthy and nutritious foods of various kinds such as freshly prepared salads, sprouts, whole wheat sandwiches, refreshing low calorie drinks for those who are watching their weights and high protein shakes for those who are trying to build their bodies. All of this is prepared locally by trained staff provided at a nominal rate to all those who visit the cafe.
The centre also caters to needs of the patients of the Shree Krishna Hospital and helps clinical departments in conducting exercise programmes for specific groups of patients such as diabetics, hypertensives and heart patients, post knee replacement patients as well as seeking muscular strength training etc.
The centre is also involved in conducting physiological and therapeutic research on exercise.
