The cardiac centre of the Karamsad based Shree Krishna Hospital , one of Gujarat`s prominent hospital performed a surgery with record-breaking seven bypass graft .As per the published reports and literature in media , surgery with the highest number of grafts in the world (12 ) was recently done by Dr. Ramakant Panda while , the 2nd highest has been reported with 8 grafts. The surgery at Shree Krishna Hospital , therefore, is one with the third highest numbers of graft.
The 72 year old patient Mr. Subhashchandra Batra from Dakor in Kheda district , a chronic case of diabetes and hypertension developed chest pain and difficulty in breathing . His angiogram showed multiple blocks in his arteries ranging from 70 to 90 percent. Such extensive blocks can only be treated with a bypass surgery , but in this case, it was both urgent and complex. The five and half hour long procedure that was successfully conducted at Bhanubhai Madhuben Patel Cardiac Centre was the third such surgery in the world, where seven grafts were created to bypass clogged arteries.
Dr Manish Tiwari the cardiac surgeon of the centre who performed this surgery stated that, “ Such complex and life threatening disease requires highly skilled and perfect management done with great team work. We are very happy to have an excellent result in this patient”.
